Carbon to Clay: Understanding Soil Systems

Carbon to Clay: Understanding Soil Systems
Join us for an in-depth learning experience that starts in the classroom and moves into the field. We’ll explore soil texture, health, compaction, weed management, and the role of soil in the carbon and water cycles.

The day will feature a **hands-on soil pit tour** at a local producer’s field—giving you the rare chance to step below the surface and see soil systems up close.

We are excited to welcome **Dr. Kris Nichols** as our guest speaker. Dr. Nichols is the founder and principal scientist of *KRIS (Knowledge for Regeneration and Innovation in Soils) Systems* and an internationally recognized leader in soil biology. She has worked with organizations including Canadian Organic Growers, the Rodale Institute, and USDA-ARS, and continues her work as a consultant and advisor with Food Water Wellness Foundation, MyLand Company Inc., the Real Organic Project, the Savory Institute, McCain’s Farms of the Future, and more. With advanced degrees in plant biology, microbiology, and soil science, Dr. Nichols brings a wealth of expertise and passion for building resilient soil systems.

Come dig deeper into the science—and the soil—beneath our feet.

This event is both a Peace Region Living Labs and a Regenerative Alberta Living Labs Event.
